Planting fresh fruit trees!! P90X Style??

Tony always says that what you learn in P90X is great functional training for the real world. I am totally a believer and today was a prime example!! You guys would have laughed to the point of tears watching me plant trees today in my yard. I live in Tennessee– Farm land Tennessee. But how in the heck any farmers have ever worked this land is beyond my mind’s comprehension!! The dirt– if you want to call it that– is red clay!! It is harder than stone and seems to continue to the earth’s core!! I was using my pointed shovel… I would hop up on it and wiggle it back and forth under all of my body weight!! After 30 minutes or so of this, I had only moved about 2 tablespoons of this crazy clay!! I went out to dig in our garage for a “better tool.” NADA!! So I dug a little deeper. I found the usual… screw drivers (that won’t work!), bricking trowel (nope!)… hmmm… I need a pick! Seriously!! I need something to break through that clay wall with!! We don’t have a pick… or anything similar… so maybe I could use… what? what could I use?? … OH YEAH!!! That is it… A CROWBAR!! Oh no… I am not kidding!! I took that thing out and used it like you would a pick beating the clay into submission!! I am sure it was a sight!! I thought some water would soften up the clay so I wet it down a little. Now as I hacked away at the earth muddy water flung everywhere!! I am sure my 3-year-old daughter got a real show watching her mom!! I probably looked like a total lunatic desperately in need of a padded room!! Mud was flying!! HAAA!! GOOD TIMES!! :D

I was grateful for my strength because my body got pretty beat up as well!! Between the shovel hops and crowbar swings!! It was crazy!! I managed to get all of my trees planted!! Then I ran inside to enjoy a nice cold Shakeology for recovery!! I was BEAT!! My yard is coming along nicely though! Soon the land will be working to feed my little family!!

Have a fabulous weekend!! Next time come on over and enjoy my solutions to life’s dilemas in person!! And don’t forget… when all else fails– Grab the crowbar!! :)
